What is Star Freedom School?

STAR Freedom School is a youth-rooted political education space centered in community organizing and ancestral memory.

We offer tools, trainings, and fellowship for TQ2S+ youth to build power locally and nationally.

The Work

  • A living, youth-rooted digital library of toolkits, multimedia lessons, and cultural resources. Guided by the leadership of our Advisory Committee, the curriculum centers Black, Indigenous, and POC trans, queer, and two-spirit youth. Lessons explore abolition, land and lineage, mutual aid, campaign planning, and creative resistance. All resources are free, accessible, and designed for GSAs, community groups, and anyone building youth power.

  • In partnership with grassroots organizations, we support TQ2S+ youth as Fellows to lead political education and organizing work in their own communities. Fellows receive ongoing training, mentorship, and stipends—and they co-create national offerings, lead Freedom Schools, and bring visibility to local struggles. This program decentralizes leadership and invests in the places where resistance is already growing.

  • STAR Pop-Up Schools are flexible, on-the-ground sessions that bring political education and organizing training directly to TQ2S+ youth. Whether it's a full-day event or a curated workshop within a larger conference, each school is co-created with local partners. Sessions center youth-led strategy, movement history, healing justice, and collective care, designed to meet the political moment.
